An Afghan soldier was killed and eight others were injured in a helicopter crash in central Daikundi province on Sunday evening, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place in Gezab district of the province when an Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopter crashed into the wall of the district's airport killing a soldier, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), Dawlat Waziri said.
"Two pilots and six soldiers of the Crisis Response Unit (CRU) were injured in the crash," Waziri said.
He said the helicopter was returning from a battle and "wanted to land at the airport, but faced technical issues."
Officials are investigating the crash to understand why and how this happened.
